ResponderExcluiri like this line where sea and land meet: it seems ther's no difference; really the same solitude you're afflicted on earth, follows at sea!

Hello Sill, This is an exceptional black and white image. Because of this, I will give you here an unsolicited critique. If you do not want this type of critique in the future, please let me know and I will refrain from it...
ResponderExcluirOnce again, if the image was only ordinary, I would not bother.
On the PROS side, you've got an excellent composition. One could argue about the framing, but the picture's element did not give you much choice. The sky is exceptional, you brought beautiful contrasts out of it. And I like this row of buildings in front of the solitary ship... quite good.
On the CONS side. nothing major, or that you could not easily correct. A CON independent of the image itself: the size is very small and does not allow one to truly appreciate. I boosted it 3 times with Perfect Resize.
... and that allowed me to see that you had a slight vertical deviation of about one degree, easy to correct. Also the sun makes for a really big totally white patch that you can easily reduce, giving you a still better sky. The buildings and the wharf are a bit on the darkish side - they're facing the sun after all - easy to adjust too.
I think it is worth trying.
Many say that I'm fussy. Maybe... but then, why not try and get the max out of it? :-)))

Preciosa la luz, Sill.
ResponderExcluirUn saludo
Composição clássica, com uma ótima leitura devido às diagonais dos armazéns e as linhas do cais que levam ao navio que aponta para o início da leitura... A escala tonal do P&B está perfeita e a iluminação das nuvens espetacular.
ResponderExcluirBlack and white,full of creacolors!!
ResponderExcluirA beauty.
Me gusta mucho la perpectiva y las nubes, una maravilla.Un saludo afectuoso
ResponderExcluirDramatic image. Well done!
ResponderExcluirI wrote you a long answer and Blogger scrapped it. Sorry, I'll try to recreate it today.
ResponderExcluirHello Sill,
ResponderExcluirThanks for your comments... :-) I need to know what software you use to do your post-processing. Correcting your white problem will possibly ask for Photoshop that gives you fine control on such things via layers or smoothed out selections.
In Photoshop CS5, the Highlights and Shadows command does literally wonders for this kind of problem. It gives you at the same time a better definition of the buildings and the wharf.
I personally find that this gives more equilibrium to the picture, but this is of course debatable.
You will find here what I did with the image. CAUTION! Those are only ideas, and you may well find that the original image is better. Some of this is only a matter of "author's decision". :-) As long as it is a conscious decision...
Cheers!
hermoso tratamiento para un byn espectacular. me encanta el encuadre
